This past February, Maggie was lead staff on a statewide Emerging Issues Forum focused on digital inclusion. Little did we know that COVID-19 would expose the digital divide in North Carolina and its consequences for all of us. Instead of winding down, we decided to ramp up our work in digital inclusion. Within a matter of weeks, Maggie helped create a robust digital inclusion resource hub that provides the latest digital inclusion news, highlights community solutions and promising practices from across the state and beyond. It also includes policy and community responses to the digital divide in the wake of COVID-19. She also helped launch a webinar series in partnership with the Roanoke Electric Cooperative called “Broadband and Beyond” and has successfully fundraised to help communities across the state with their digital inclusion needs. Maggie’s efforts are helping position IEI as a thought leader and change maker in the digital inclusion space.
