Computer Loan Program
In support of staff development, the NC State University Staff Senate provides a Computer Loan Program for qualifying NC State staff members. This program provides computers to employees who may have limited access to develop computer skills and who want to take classes or expand their knowledge in ways that are mutually beneficial to themselves and the university. The Staff Senate Computer Loan Committee manages this initiative.
The computer loan is for one year, but participants can renew if their employment at the university continues and they remain eligible. This program provides Windows or Apple laptop devices to approved applicants.
Participant Eligibility Criteria
- NC State staff member
- An annual salary of $45K or less
- Permanent employee
- Work at least 35 hours per week
Application Process
To apply for a computer loan, please complete the application form. If you prefer a a paper copy, please email computerloan@ncsu.edu to request one. The Computer Loan Committee will review applications and contact qualifying candidates about computer availability.
Ways to Donate
- University-owned laptops
The Staff Senate is currently seeking Windows and Apple laptops. If your department has laptops it plans to surplus, please complete the Staff Senate Computer Transfer Form to donate them to the Staff Senate Computer Loan Program. All computers are wiped clean by a certified technician before redistribution. - Personal computers
MacBooks and Windows laptops are accepted and processed by NC State Advancement Services. You will receive Form BA-151 for your tax-deductible donation.
All computers should be in good working condition and have a battery that holds a charge. MacBooks should accept the current MacOS or the last two previous versions. Windows laptops need to be Lenovo, Dell, or HP and should have 8GBs of memory, a hard drive of about 128GB of space, and preferably a HDMI video port.
