Elizabeth New – Electrical and Computer Engineering

Elizabeth has done a fantastic job in her role in the Undergraduate Office of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In addition to her administrative duties and advising the ECE Student Ambassadors, she has produced two graduation ceremonies, including the May 2019 ceremony that proved to be the most-attended ceremony in the department’s history. With lower-than-usual staff support, and a series of unexpected last-minute obstacles, she rose to the challenge and led the department to put on a flawless performance of the commencement ceremony, despite the added pressure of media coverage and an appearance by Christina Koch from the International Space Station. Elizabeth’s excelled at analyzing and utilizing critical thinking to find optimal solutions to challenges and hasn’t ceased trying to find better ways to do things in order to better the performance and stature of the Department to students and the public.
